I lost 2 years of work

Have you ever lost a whole folder of important work that took you a long time to create on your computer? Unfortunately, I have. This past week I was transferring a folder with a lot of important footage for my Christmas Special because I needed more storage space. After I transferred it to another drive I deleted it from the original one. What I didn’t know at the time was the files I transferred had gotten corrupted and I were beyond repair. I was able to recover some of the work from the original drive but not the bulk of it. I’m not going to sugarcoat it and say that it was easy to move past. I had to let myself grieve losing two years of work before I could move forward; and even now it still makes me sad.

However, with everything that you grieve for in life you eventually can move forward and figure out the next right thing. It might seem strange but I’m actually grateful for the experience because it taught me what was truly irreplaceable. For instance, old family photos that can’t be retaken because you are older now and it wouldn’t be the same. Life is about living the fun and hard moments and for me in my life I fully believe it’s to feel every moment even if it’s uncomfortable.
